Metronome Technology are an energy intelligence company aimed squarely at paving the way for a renewable future. We're building a shared platform for managing on-demand flexibility at scale.
Their best-in-class, connected hardware provides control and peace-of-mind on-site, while generating revenue and decarbonising the grid.
To create their best-in-class Metronome approached Ardencraft Technology to turn their prototype hardware module into a mass-producible product. We gathered the requirements, established a product specification then mapped out the work that needed to be carried out so Metronome could get their dream hardware product out there at a reasonable price.

The project included:
-
Reviewed their existing Energy Monitoring System prototype
-
Re-designing the PCB so it has more cost-efficient Integrating Circuits (ICs) and Transformers
-
Source several potential factories that are appropriate to mass produce with
-
Source all PCB components and plastic moulding parts within China
-
Create a full Quality Control strategy that can be adopted by the factory through regular training sessions and on-site Quality Control inspections
-
Thoroughly validate the product using best practises through Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Design Validation Testing (DVT) and Production Validation Testing (PVT).
-
Carry out CE & ROHS Certification on the product - ensuring it is safe to use for high voltages applications.
Achievements:
Price reduction of 50% by replacing UK ICs with the equivalent (or better) native Chinese ICs.
Established a new supply chain within China enabling their products to be mass produced at a reasonable cost, competitive MOQ and a 2 month delivery time.

CE & Safety certified the product so it can be sold in the EU.

Creation of a mass-production quote for 2000, 5000 and 10 000 units.
